Thumbs up för Biltrasan.se!

Lenovo just put up a teaser site for their “Reserve Edition” ThinkPad, sounds very interesting but it maybe just are the last TP’s in IBM quality before they start doing them the Lenovo way?
*SCNR*
The teaser site looks nice but does not tell you anything concrete about the product, the pictures show sewed leather and stuff. As you have limited/reserve/whatever editions of almost everything these days – people buy more and more lifestyle instead of products. We will see what Lenovo has to offer, the teaser implies a leather cover for it which is something new and interesting. They will surely are built on the Santa Rosa technology which is interesting but not revolutionary. I doubt that the new T60/T61 have a metal lid as former T-Series as the T43/42/41/40 had – but ok maybe leather will be even better, just wait and see…

This could be a really nice replacement for Visio if you are tired paying license fees or planning to migrate to an operating system which wouldn’t support Visio, such as Linux. I read about Cumulate Draw at Lifehacker and as usual this “hack” is very useable for me, ok I have to admit that it may take some releases to come closer to the functionalities in Visio but at least they are on the right way. The main advantage of Cumulate Draw is that it’s totally browser based which means that you don’t have to install it on your computer, just surf to it on the web and start drawing. This pretty nice feature seems to be its biggest disadvantage as well, as you would not be able to edit your drawings while traveling in planes and other locations where network is unavailable. Anyway it’s intuitive and it works so that’s just fine for me, I like the applications to the web approach.

I read about osalt.com on Lifehacker and I found this post very valuable for me as I’m currently overseeing my software portfolio and how to migrate from M$ and other commercial applications to open source alternatives. Osalt.com helps you in finding the right open source solution for your computer.
